Metal Processing

Mica plays a vital role in enhancing productivity within the foundry and metal processing industries. Its natural slip properties increase the durability of furnace linings, which not only protect the furnace structure but also help regulate heat more efficiently. The use of mica further assists in identifying potential damage risks to furnaces before failure occurs, improving operational safety. Because of its low thermal conductivity, mica is widely utilized across metalworking applications, including heaters, boilers, lumber kilns, smelters, and furnace wiring systems. Specialized grades of mica-insulated wires can withstand extreme conditions, continuing to perform for up to fifteen minutes when exposed to molten metals such as aluminum and mercury. In casting operations, flexible mica sheets are used during the pouring of molten metal to ensure a smooth, safe process and to minimize the risk of accidents or contamination.
